After working in a direct response marketing agency for a year, I picked up some tips and industry “secrets” on how the best marketers optimse their sales funnels for conversions.
In this post I will be sharing 5 quick tips that I have used to increase the conversion rates of my funnels. So without further ado, lets start with number 1.
1) Adding A Countdown Timer
Humans buy with emotion and justify their purchases with logic. Adding a simple timer in the order page can help emphasise your call to action and

2) Adding Curiosity in The Copy
Studies have shown that headlines with curiosity elements in them convert better as they make the reader want to know more. Your target audience is constantly bombarded by stimuli and you need a really good hook to stand out.

Take a look at the headline above, aren’t you just aching to know what the “26 moments” are?! Well I sure am..
3) Having a Price Slash
People like to feel smart. Adding a simple price slash in your checkout page can be that last thing that pushes your target audience to fill in their credit card details. After all, everyone likes to think that they got a good deal.

4) Having an One-Time-Order (OTO)
This tip is less about increasing conversions and more about increasing your average order value (AOV) of every customer. A simple OTO that seems exclusive can be the difference between a customer spending $88 or $188.

An OTO should be placed right after the purchase page. If your payment software allows for one click upsells (means the customer does not have to key in their credit card information again) do utilise it! It’ll help make the upsell process easier.
I know that Pay Kick Start supports a one click upsell, not sure about the other payment gateways.
5) Exit Intent Popup
And exit intent popup looks like this.

It is triggered when the user tries to exit the page and has been shown to increases conversions up to 30%!
It is an absolutely must have. It gives users a 2nd chance to reevaluate their decision.
Conclusion
And there you have it, 5 quick tips to help optimise your sales funnel. Low conversion rates can be really frustrating and be dependant on a lot of factors. These tips are not a sure fire way to turn your campaign around but are guaranteed to help turn some views into purchases.
In future blog posts I might make a part 2 to this, let me know in the comments if you guys are interested in that or if there are any other burning topics in mind!
